Ensembleee

I was thinking about casting (imagine now that I have just thrown up into my hand)

How to people feel about making this more of an ensemble cast to the point of, like, they are all in each scene even if they are just playing a chair, and they switch constantly, denoting changes with their bodies and with possibly like a scarf or something? I think that it would go along with our whole multiplicity thing pretty well and would create this other world more completely. How would this affect our writings. Does it do anything for ya'll?

  1. this reminds of a discussion we had really early on in the process where we talked about the ensemble becoming part of the house and blending in and out of it, which i thought was really cool. i think it's a really interesting idea to explore.

  2. p.s.--what's going on with the script/the plot structure outline right now?

  3. It would really challenge me to rethink costumes, I wouldn't want them all running around in black leggings with the occasinal hat but I could get really into costumes that change, or blend into walls until their needed, table cloth magic robe anyone?

but, It would take major planning, I really think the script would have to be planned out with who turns into who when so I know that Actor A or whatever needs to be whoever in whatever order.

and there couldn't be any fun makeup really

  4. i was thinking about that and I think that there could be both fun makeup and fun costumes. Remember that weird slip garment that the woman from teatre baba yaga was wearing in her pictures? If the costumes were all aeshetically in line with the world of the play, they could be super cool and textural etc while being nonspecific to a role. right? then we wouldn't have to plan it out in the script as much either.

  5. I was thinkig the same thing. plus Make up can make them into beings of this world w/out making them ultra specific to roles. It could actually make it easier to make the audience not go "hey! that guy's in my creative memoir class and also in the last scene!"

I just relooked at the theatre baba yaga pics and I think I'm getting more excited about this approach.

  7. yeah, totally. but the script would need to be open enough for there to be things for everybody to do, or not use more than say, four characters per scene. speaking of script, anybody got anything new?

  8. people not in use could become part of the house, and hand Baba Yaga tea cups when she wants them.

and all I got script wise now is stress. wah wah
